SISTERHOOD OF ST JOHN THE DIVINE SSJD
The Sisterhood of St John the Divine is a contemporary expression of the Religious
life for women within the Anglican Church of Canada. Founded in Toronto in 1884,
we are a prayer-
St John’s Convent is a centre of prayer, community, and mission, which nurtures and supports the life of the whole Sisterhood. The Convent’s mission includes: a guest house where individuals and groups are welcomed, and share in the community’s prayer and liturgy; regularly scheduled retreats; availability of Sisters to preach, teach, speak, lead retreats and quiet days; programs which help people to build bridges between our secular culture, the Church, and the monastic tradition; discernment programs for those seeking guidance in their life and work; the offering of spiritual direction; embroidered white church linens; music and liturgical leadership for the Church; ecumenical outreach; and partnership with St John’s Rehab Hospital.
The Sisterhood supports St John’s Rehab Hospital through membership in the Hospital
Corporation and Board of Directors, and through its presence on the Hospital staff.
