SOCIETY OF ALL SAINTS SISTERS OF THE POOR, USA

Please note that the Community uses no abbreviations of the title of the Society.  Sisters put ‘of All Saints’ after their names.

All Saints is a traditional Community desiring to uphold orthodox Christian faith and morality, and to support the Apostolic tradition in ministry and practice.  We are united by our common commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ, and by our desire to live for Him.  Within that unity there is great diversity both in our personalities and our talents.  In giving these as an offering to the Lord, our communal life is enhanced.

Founded in London, three Sisters came to Baltimore, Maryland, in 1872, at the request of the Rector of Mount Calvary Church.  The American sisterhood became an independent House in 1890.

The daily Eucharist is the center of our life.  The six-fold Divine Office and our times of personal prayer enable us to pour forth Christ’s love to others, in all of our works.  Hospitality is an important aspect of our various houses.  We also give retreats and missions of various types both at the Convent and elsewhere.  Training for a vocation to the sisterhood begins with a month’s Observership, then Postulancy and Novitiate.  Three years in Junior Vows precede Life Profession.
