CHAMA CHA MARIAMU MTAKATIFU CMM
(Community of St Mary of Nazareth and Calvary)
The Community was founded in 1946 when the first girls took vows, and was under the Community of the Sacred Passion (CSP) until 1968, when they left them and Sister May Elizabeth was elected first Mother Superior CMM.
Bishop Frank Weston is the Grandfather Founder of CMM, while Bishop William Vincent Lucas is the Father Founder CMM. Both were Universities’ Missionaries to Central Africa. CMM Sisters are trying their best to keep the aims of the founders: to serve God, His Church and His people.
Since then, there are eleven Houses in Tanzania and one in Zambia. Sisters do different services in the stations where they live, according to the demands and resources. At the time being, the Community is busy to raise up the standard of education of the members, so that it copes with the duties they face.
