Associates shall be members of the Third Order. They are men and women who wish to share in the life and work of the Community, but without the necessity of Vows or living within community or the requirements applicable to members of the Second Order. Associates agree to provide prayer and financial support for the Order of Saint Athanasius. Women at a later date may feel called into a more dedicated life and enter the First or Second Order.

The Rule of Life for an Associate is substantially the same as that required of any Churchman:

1. Attendance at the Holy Sacrifice of the Eucharist every Sunday and Prayer Book Holy Days (Feasts of Obligation) when not legitimately prevented.
2. Daily private morning and evening prayers, including daily prayer for the Order of St Athanasius.
3. A regimen of fasting or abstinence during Lent. (Book of Common Prayer page 13 and 17).
4. The regular use of the Sacrament of Penance, frequency should be determined by personal rule under the guidance of one's confessor.
5. Financial support of the Order of St. Athanasius in accordance with one's means, with due regard to other legitimate claims and commitments.
6. The making of an annual Retreat.
7. The symbol of the Order shall be worn during all liturgical functions and as much as possible.
